Lake Arlington Reopens; Fate Of Pools Being Discussed


ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Things are starting to look a little more normal with summer almost here. The Arlington Heights Park District reopened Lake Arlington Wednesday for biking, running, walking, fishing and privately-owned boats with a lake sticker. The playground and fitness area remains closed at this time and will be re-evaluated when Illinois moves into Phase 4 guidelines of the Restore Illinois Plan.

Lake Arlington, a man-made lake, was created to ease flooding problems. The two-mile walking path is used year-round. The 50-acre detention lake allows boating, but no swimming.

Decisions on the fate of pools in the Arlington Heights Park District are still being determined. The park district states it is “analyzing the information to determine what we can potentially open in a safe, efficient and effective manner.” The guidance allows pools to open up for select programming, including lap swimming.
