1,568 New Coronavirus Cases In LA County; 58 More Deaths


LOS ANGELES, CA — Another daunting number of new coronavirus cases was confirmed in Los Angeles County on Saturday, as the county added 1,568 new cases of COVID-19 and 58 more deaths.

The new updates bring the county’s totals to 72,023 cases and 2,890 deaths, and come after health orders were relaxed again, allowing businesses such as museums, gyms, galleries, RV parks and zoos to reopen as soon as this weekend, provided they impose restrictions such as ensuring social distancing and requiring face coverings for employees and visitors.

That the coronavirus is spreading faster in Los Angeles County since the easing of shutdown restrictions isn’t a surprise to public health officials. The question is how much worse the outbreak will become.
